Born and raised in Texas, I have spent the better part of my life trying to find ways to leave. Somehow always finding my way back to my roots, this piece honors my Texas heritage and the strong line of women I come from.
Made completely from reused sourced fabrics that were hand dyed.
This piece was featured in the Fashion Institute of Technology 2021 Fashion Design Associate’s: Reduce, Reuse Recycle Exhibition
Turning Back The Clock
Intrigued with the nineteen fifties and Hollywood glamour, this project looks to the past for inspiration. Charles James and Christian Dior heavily inspired the design of this garment while actresses such as Marylin Monroe and Rita Hayworth served as the inspiration behind the final photos. The goal of this garment was to capture the essence of the fifties and look to the construction of the gowns of that time period.
